ASL
with STEPHANIE O'GUIN
AGES
9-13 years
In this class, we will start with the basics of fingerspelling and move into signing words and sentences, cover some Deaf culture concepts, facial expressions and gestures associated with the language, as well as the difference between ASL and signed English. With any luck, we will be able to sign a song by the end of the year. (The song will probably in Signed English instead of ASL.)
Skills required:
No reading or writing needed for this class.
Homework:
Students should be practicing their newly learned signs at home, but no actual "homework" will be assigned.
Lecture time:
About 15 minutes per class, but majority of the time will be spent learning signs and practicing them.
Is fall semester required for spring semester?
Yes
