ANTHROPOLOGY
with LINDSAY KAUFMAN
AGES 13+
This class will explore the field of anthropology. Looking at people past and present. We’ll look at 4 major areas of study in the field including: archaeology, cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology. Our class time will be mainly lecture and discussion with some hands-on activities as well as case studies. There maybe an opportunity for a field trip to the anthropology museum at UNM or some of the fantastic ruins around New Mexico outside the Wednesday class. Humans have a lot of history some of which is not peaceful. There maybe be subjects that come up that could be more difficult for some students.
Skills required:
They need to be able to read and be able to write/dictate notes and assignments. The class will be heavier lecture with some hands on activities.
Homework:
There will be homework from time to time which may include: a research paper with citations, reading articles, and finding resources in the internet/library
Lecture time:
This class will be mostly lecture. 80:20 lecture:discussion/hands in activities
