Read, discuss, and create original comics while exploring the art and storytelling of graphic novels and comics.

In this class, students will explore comic books and graphic novels through group readings, discussions, and creative activities. Each week will focus on a concept or element of comics—from characters and settings to drawing and dialogue. By the end, each student will have created a short comic of their own!

• Reading Levels: Projects are very flexible. Students can choose between word-heavy or visual storytelling.

• Participation: Emphasis on discussion, group sharing, and creative fun.

• Homework: Continued work on personal comic development. 

• Lecture Style: Short talks and examples, with more time spent on hands-on activities and group conversation.
